Goodbye outdated track lights; hello pendant lights! One of the home projects we'd hoped to tackle in 2014 was updating the eyesore that was an outdated track light system in our upstairs hallway. While all the way in the back of the house (and upstairs nonetheless), you could actually see it when walking through the front door — not the best introduction we wanted to present folks with when visiting. Here's a good "before" shot of it back from when we began to paint the upstairs hallway walls:
I can't tell you how satisfying it was to dismantle this track mount from the hallway ceiling:
When deciding how to update it, we know we'd want to go for a row of hanging pendant lights. We've loved the look of all the mason jar pendant lights that have seemed to pop up everywhere, so I put my "electrician hat" on and made a custom set of our own for this fixture.
Head on over to eHow to see more pictures of the updated light fixture with step by step instructions for taking the project on yourself!

Hello!
ReplyDeleteTrends reach all over the world! Here in Norway we love our "Norway jar", it has been made for many years and it´s trendy to use it for storing of foods and other things. My grandmother had many of them and I got them when I took over her house. Yesterday I made a nice lamp of one of them and saw your blogpost this morning, so I wanted to share a link of mine!

Hi Ingvild,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for popping in to share your version of the jar pendant — we loved learning more about the Norwegian version of the mason jar trend and getting a peek at your DIY version!
