Q. How did the two of you meet?
We originally met when I (Mary) was in college and began working in a local restaurant at which Tim was already a regular. I used to tease him about how we’d make a great couple when he would order a favorite salad that included tomatoes (he hates tomatoes), telling him I’d always eat the ones he pushed aside. Pretty cheesy, I know. A few years down the road, we began dating and joke to this day about that line every time we order the same notorious salad - and yes, I do eat the tomatoes he pushes aside.
Q. You look familiar - where else have I seen you?
You may recognize Mary from her work for Etsy.com or jewelry shop. You probably recognize Tim from his food blog, E.A.T.
Q. What kind of camera do you use?
Thanks for asking! Here's the two-part answer:
- From the time we started this blog through April 2014, we shared a Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP SLR Camera purchased as a starter kit. Tim had two vintage 80's lenses from a manual Canon SLR of his (macro 50mm and zoom 35-135mm lenses). They magically fit right on the new digital version and work perfectly with all of the automatic settings - yes, we know how lucky that was!
- In April 2014 when our best bud, the Canon Rebel quit on us after 5+ faithful years of capturing everything from birthdays, graduations, and new babies — to the more mundane things like what new hose nozzle we got we decided to upgrade to the newer Canon EOS 70D 18-135 STM Digitial Camera Kit. The majority of images you see on our blog from May 2014 on are most likely captured with this new camera (unless taken with our iPhones). We still interchange between the new camera kit lens, old camera kit lens and the vintage macro 50mm we've acquired over time.
Q. Where do you live?
We live in Richmond, Virginia in a historic neighborhood called the Fan District. Learn more about our decision to live in the Fan here.
