DIY Treat Packaging Tutorial

We had such a great response to the last batch of homemade dog treats we made, with inquiries on the wrappings — I thought I'd share a quick tutorial on how I packaged them up. It's really simpler than it looks and could work for a multitude of different baked goods other than dog cookies.

All you will need is:
  • Parchment paper, or any paper you prefer — I imagine butcher paper, waxed paper, or even printed paper could be just as cute.
  • Baker's Twine — striped could be quite festive, depending on the occasion or holiday.
  • Scissors.
  • Tape, optional.
Stack desired amount of dog cookies per package; 3 was a good fit for the size of ours.

Cut strips of paper thin enough to fit alongside the narrow portion of the dog bone shape — wrap around stacked cookies snuggly, slightly overlapping ends. At this point, you can place a small piece of tape at the overlap on the underside of the stacked cookies if you want.

Cut enough twine to wrap generously around treats and finish with a classic bow — ends freely hanging. I went with enough twine to wrap around 4 times before the bow.

Repeat with remaining treats and you're done; it's that simple. Bunch a few together and give as gifts or use as favors.

Guess who had a really tough time watching me photograph all his cookies????

"Come on, Mom...this just isn't right."
