For Mary and I, this meant getting the chance to try out some of our favorite standby and new-to-us BBQ joints around town while I downed some of the best barbecue I've had and feverishly took notes on all the highlights — tough job, I know. Alas, somebody had to do it :)
Not only does the issue round up the very best in Richmond's barbecue scene, it includes an article all about how to make your own DIY smoker — and you know how I've just recently gotten into smoking more meats since we picked up a smoker of our own right around this time last summer (remember how we even smoked the Thanksgiving turkey?).
All of this is to say, we were beyond excited at the release of this July issue of Richmond Magazine — it's on newsstands now if you happen to be in the area and pick one up!
Where's your favorite Richmond spot for good 'cue? How about in your area if not in RVA? Or maybe you have a favorite recipe or signature way to make your best barbecue sandwich (Mary always has to have coleslaw on top of her bbq) — whichever the case, we'd love to get your thoughts in the comments section below.

I have this issue at home, but I haven't read it yet! Can't wait to try some of these BBQ spots!
ReplyDeleteSo cool! I was just saying last month how much I miss my southern bbq and hush puppies. One of my favorite jobs as a waitress was at a family bbq in Hillsborough. Sadly, it's no longer open for business.
