Tim beginning to clear out the front room — goodbye yellow curtains!
You can read more about our decision for doing so, along with an inspiration board for what we have in mind in this post from last week. We ended up making solid progress on the space and can't wait to share all the details for how it's all coming together in tomorrow's post.
In other news, we actually made it a 3 day weekend, road-tripping up to Northern Virginia Friday to spend some time outlet shopping at Potomac Mills and Ikea.
Tim's favorite Ikea section, kitchen goods
We left with lots of inspiration and a few purchases including new pillow inserts for our couch pillows (it's amazing how a run through the wash and a new insert can bring a flimsy throw pillow back to life), a trash bin for the office, a plastic bag holder, and the best find of the day goes to Tim with this little runner rug we picked up to replace the one we have in our front entry:
Somebody else important also gave his approval:
Which is a big improvement from what we had going on before:
Saturday we drove down Route 5 with Basil to take advantage of spring sale and antiquing season, leaving with some new finds for the Vintage Etsy shop:
There really is something to be said for the thrill of the hunt. Sometimes we won't find anything, other times we'll happen upon diamonds in the rough like the mid century white Dansk saucepan above or a box of antique cameras filled with personality from the countryside in Virginia.
We also had the pleasure of Stephanie joining us for dinner last night. In true Sunday supper fashion, Tim pulled out the smoker to create a full dinner of smoked ribs and sausage:
We are just loving these spring weekends — how was yours?
