Coming back from a week in NYC, this past weekend was a welcome return to sunny December weather, a trip to the country with Basil and scouting out this year's Christmas tree. We've rounded up our collective iPhone snaps from all the events today if you care to see...
Early Sunday we woke up with a hankering for Sugar Shack donuts. With a plan to visit Mary's mom in Prince George and Basil in tow, we picked up half a dozen (oh, the Maple Bacon) and hit the road for a Sunday adventure. Coming back from the city, we'd been looking forward to spending time with Basil and just taking in the scenery of the farm and river.
Basil enjoyed roaming the open fields and making friends with our oversized decoy, a Gander that's been in Mary's family since her grandfather's hunting days.
Later that evening we set out to pick up this year's Christmas tree. This time last year we were in NYC and upon our return there weren't any Christmas trees available, so we had to get a little creative. This go round we went with a 5 ft fir (one of my favorite kinds) from a corner lot complete with hanging string lights, fresh greenery and mistletoe.
We'll be eager to pull down the decorations this week to make the house feel that much more festive.
In other holiday news, the elves have been busy! This time of year usually means evenings filled with a cocktail and packaging parcels filled with goods from our Etsy shops. We've jokingly coined this the year of the mermaid since they seem to be the most popular in both Mary's jewelry shop and the Vintage shop:
So there's a slice of life in our world today — how are the holidays taking shape in your part of the world?
New year..new blog header!! I think it is a great idea!!
