The small bedroom we've used as a closet just next to our master was the only room we hadn't painted in the entire house since moving in 8 years ago... until last weekend. We're slowing updating this little space into the baby's nursery and I can't tell you how much it makes the idea of meeting our daughter feel like a reality.
So far, we've painted the walls in Benjamin Moore's Silvery Moon, a calming blend of gray and blue, and gave all the trim a fresh coat of bright white in an eggshell finish. Loving how it pops, accentuating the historic character in the room.
The room is small, making it difficult to capture in one fell swoop, so I tried to get a few wide shots from each corner of the nursery trying to give you an idea of the overall space. The room was initially larger but at one time a bathroom was added to our master which took away from this room. Notice the slightly off-center light fixture?
One of my favorite (and quickest!) ways to update the rooms in our house over the past year has been painting the old radiators black, which we did in here and took it one step further...
You might have noticed we also painted the fireplace cover black, which added additional depth to the room. The doors had significant wear and chipping from years of use and layering on a fresh coat of paint here seemed to give them a new lease on life (while retaining their character) and just generally make the room feel clean and polished. I like a satin finish for just a touch of sheen.
To finish things off, Tim installed a new dimming light switch so we're able to find the perfect lighting to suit all hours of the night we'll likely be spending in here soon. It came with a remote too, so I'll be able to adjust without leaving the rocker if need be.
With everything cleared from the room and a fresh coat of paint, it feels like a blank canvas filled with possibility. We've already ordered some of the furniture from our loose design and I'm pretty sure once I see a crib in here, my heart might literally melt.
If that weren't exciting enough, this coming weekend different parts of my family have planned two baby showers. Life just feels so full at the moment, and I'm not taking any of it for granted. We were so tickled to find out our little girl isn't so little at our appointment last week. If you follow us on Instagram, you already know she's measuring 95 percentile in leg length and if I make it the full 40 weeks, we may have close to a 9 pound miracle on our hands. I'm a tall 5'9 and Tim's son is 6'4, so she's already taking after both sides in the height department.

We're eager to share all of our unfolding nursery progress over the next 4 weeks as guest participants in the One Room Challenge along with friends who are also updating their own spaces. See what everyone else is up to this week over on the One Room Challenge project page and in case you missed it, find the "before" photos of this room along with all of our planning inspiration in this post.
